Payroll teams come in many shapes and forms but without them we wouldn't get paid. National Payroll Week is a time to celebrate, appreciate, and educate on all things payroll, including the people who make it all happen. This year, National Payroll Week takes place September 2 - 6, and we have everything you need to participate.
Here are 3 simple ways to thank your payroll people and get the most out of National Payroll Week at your organization.
Spread the Word
Get the buzz going around the office by informing employees about the upcoming celebration. An easy way to get started is to send out an email detailing the dates, a little background info, and what to expect. Be sure to include any festivities you have planned to get everyone excited. And most importantly, don't forget to shout out your organization’s payroll team to give everyone the opportunity to express their gratitude. Keep the conversation going by posting reminders or informational resources to your group chat, email, or intranet leading up to the week to increase involvement and participation.
Celebrate and appreciate
Once the week arrives is when the real fun starts! Celebrations can easily be scaled to match your budget and pace of the office. Keep in mind the people involved and what might get them excited about payroll as well as what would make your payroll people be valued. Tokens of gratitude go along way so whether you decide to go all out or keep it modest, don't forget about the power of a simple "Thank you."
Decorate
Show your payroll department some love by decorating their office or desk with fun tokens of appreciation. Flowers, balloons, coffee and/or their favorite treat are some of our go-to choices. We've even included a printable sign to hang up in your office in our National Payroll Week Kit.
Host a luncheon
Catered lunches and group outings are a great way to bring people together. You can take advantage of DoorDash's group order feature to let everyone choose their own meal, or host a family style luncheon.
Payroll Trivia
Test how well your organization really knows their payroll people with fun questions and prizes. You can double up and make this an educational opportunity as well and quiz your employees on their payroll knowledge.
Payroll Hero Highlight
Let the world know how much you appreciate the people who pay you by posting a note of gratitude or picture to your company's social media or internal platforms.
PayDays for Pay Day!
Make your upcoming payroll extra sweet with a PayDay candy bar treat from the payroll team.
Educate
There is a lot more to payroll than printing or depositing checks. Use this week to educate your employees on your organization’s payroll processes, and help them appreciate what goes on behind the scenes. A great way to do this is to open up the floor for a Q&A session with your payroll department.
National Payroll Week is also a perfect opportunity to brush up on financial fitness with your employees. Introduce them to the tools available to help get the most out of their paychecks and better their financial planning.
